Die 'Alejandro'-Sängerin hat sich mit dem Skandal-Fotografen Terry Richardson zusammengetan, um ihr Leben hinter der Bühne zu dokumentieren, das sie während ihrer 181 Termine umfassenden 'Monster Ball'-Tour führt. Trotz des selbstgewählten Projekts gibt die Exzentrikerin zu, dass es ihr manchmal ein bisschen zu viel geworden sei, immer jemanden um sich herum zu haben. Der japanischen Männerausgabe der 'Vogue' erklärt sie: "Er wollte ein Buch über 'Monster Ball'. Er wollte mich backstage fotografieren, nicht auf der Bühne, um zu schauen, wie ich nach der Show bin. Er war mit mir im Tourbus, folgt mir überall hin. Er fotografiert mich, wenn ich die Kostüme wechsle - diese kurzen Zeiträume während der Show. Und manchmal muss ich während der Show aufs Klo und dann brülle ich immer: 'Terry, raus mit dir!'"
Die Reaktion des Künstlers sei dann nur: "'Es ist so schön, du bist so ein Punk!' Wenn meine Fans wüssten, dass ich backstage in ein Bierglas pinkel", orakelt sie.
Inzwischen hat die Sängerin unter den Tierrechtlern für Aufruhr gesorgt, da sie auf dem Cover des Hefts nur mit rohem Fleisch bedeckt ist. Ingrid Newkirk, Vorsitzende der Tierschutzorganisation PETA klagt an: "Lady Gagas Job ist es, seltsame Dinge zu machen, und das hier qualifiziert sie sicher als seltsam, denn Fleisch ist etwas, von dem man eigentlich ablehnen sollte, es in oder an den Körper zu stecken. Egal, wie schön es auch präsentiert ist: Fleisch von einem gequälten Tier ist Fleisch von einem gequälten Tier. Fleisch repräsentiert blutige Gewalt und Leid, wenn das also der Look ist, den sie haben wollten, dann haben sie es auch verdient!"
